Fans smash Alan Tam's and Kenny Bee's albums over police support

4 Jul – Alan Tam and Kenny Bee recently sparked the wrath of their fans after appearing at a rally supporting the Hong Kong police.

As reported on Mingpao, the two singers, who went on stage at the 30 June event to criticise "the younger people" (anti-extradition protesters) of being "ridiculous", found their vintage vinyl records being smashed and destroyed at a recent protest in Victoria Park.

An older fan known only as Mr. Wong, who appeared at the protest, stated that he began listening to Alan in his teens, would buy all of his albums and go to all of his concerts. However, he was saddened by the singer's decision to criticise the protesters.

"His fame and fortune are all derived from the support of his Hong Kong fans for many years. Now, at a critical time, I feel that he has forsaken us," he said.

Mr Wong added that he has decided to destroy all of his collection and wouldn't want them to be at his home ever again.

"It has no value, and I have no regret stamping on it," he said.

Fans also went online to express their frustration with the singers, saying that they will boycott listening to the singers' songs.

Aside from the two singers, actor Tony Leung Kar Fai was also blasted for joining the said rally, after he was seen holding the placard with the word "Support the Police" written on it.
