Figure Skater Mirai Nagasu Surprises Fans with Baby Announcement After Confirming Engagement: 'I Had a Son!'

The 31-year-old revealed that she welcomed a son in a paid Instagram post just days after revealing her engagement

Mirai Nagasu is a proud boy mom!

On Thursday, June 20, the figure skater, 31, surprised fans by sharing her news in a sponsored Instagram post promoting View Boston.

Nagasu showed fans around the tourist attraction while carrying her baby son Tai. "It's an interactive experience for everyone, even families with newborns like mine," she said in the voiceover.

"Look how locked in Tai is as he learns all about Boston," the athlete added. "And yes, surprise I had a son!"

PEOPLE reached out to Nagasu's representatives for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

Although the reveal came as a surprise to many, fans seemed to love the way the skater chose to announce the news.

"Best new baby announcement EVER!" one excited follower commented.

"WHAT A HARD LAUNCH. Congrats!" another chimed in.

"Surprise after surprise this week omg, congratulations!!" yet another social media user added.

As the previously-mentioned user noted, that's not the only surprise Nagasu — who made history at the 2018 Winter Olympics when she became the first U.S. female figure skater to land a triple axel during an Olympic competition — revealed this week on social media.

Days before her baby announcement, Nagasu also confirmed her engagement to Michael Bramante, 32, which took place over a year ago in Boston's Public Garden, sharing multiple Instagram posts with photos from the occasion.

The star posted an array of sweet photos showing the pair looking loved up in the city, with Nagasu showing off her glittering ring and kissing her husband-to-be in the images.

In one photo, the couple was all smiles while touching their noses together and standing in the park.

"We tried this thing where we told (in person) everyone that we’re engaged before posting about it on social… so this is from over a year ago. 🥰😙🤓," Nagasu captioned one of the posts.
