A fire on Sunday afternoon in Tuas involving large marine buoys took about six hours to extinguish.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to a fire at 21 Tuas View Place at about 1.40pm involving large marine buoys filled with dense foam, said SCDF in a Facebook post on 3 December.

The fire was confined to the storage yard, which SCDF said was the size of a basketball court. SCDF extinguished the flames using foam jets.

“It was a protracted firefighting operation due to the difficulty in accessing the deep-seated fire as the rows of large buoys had melted and fused together,” said SCDF. The fire was finally extinguished at 7.50pm.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
