Welcome to this week's round-up of food deals, discounts and freebies.
Best supermarket deals
This week we’re going to kick off with the best BOGOF buys at Morrisons; buy two Lyons packs of large king prawns for £3.99, two 350g blocks of Lake District Mature Cheddar for £3.99, two Prime Fayre Rindless Back Bacon packs for £2.99, two 480g jars of gherkin slices for £1.19 and 350g boxes of Cadbury Roses for £4.
When I popped home for Mother’s Day I nicked a tin of tuna from my parent’s cupboard because it’s so expensive in my local supermarket – but there are some pretty good deals at Asda with four-packs of Princes tuna chunks for £3 and Smart Price tuna flakes for 49p. Tins of The Reel Fish Co Pole & Line Tuna are reduced from £1.68 to £1.38 but gram for gram the other deals are much cheaper.
Liven up breakfast with some other Asda bargains including a four-pack of Greek yoghurt with honey for £1 (was £1.50), Shredded Wheat Honey Nut for £1 (was £2.08) and five-packs of Special K Peach and Apricot bars for £1 (was £1.98). You can also grab Branston brown sauce for £1 (was £1.78), cheese and garlic jumbo baguette for £1 (was £1.50) and Haribo Starmix for 50p (was £1).
Heading to Sainsbury’s if you need some ideas for midweek lunches, you could try this Fresh Idea’s piri piri coleslaw for £1 (was £2), a 12-pack of snack sausage rolls for 99p (was £1.99), broccoli, tomato and cheese quiche for £1 (was £2.19) and this 10” pepperoni pizza for £1.80 (was £3.60). Elsewhere, you can buy 500g of Valley Foods frozen skinless chicken for £1.99 (was £3.99), 750ml of Felippo Berio extra virgin olive oil for £2.34 (was £4.68), Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise Squeezy for £1.99 (was £3.98) and 500ml Frijj chocolate milkshake for 60p (was £1.20).
Tesco best buys include Pitch brioche with chocolate chips for £1 (was £1.95), four cans of Cook Italian chopped tomatoes for £2 (was £4.39), Tesco Finest white hot cross buns for 64p (was £1.39) and 500g Flora Buttery for 97p (was £1.95) and 627g of fresh lamb chops for £4.85 (was £9.70).
For big brand savings Innocent Veg Pots are also on offer at £1.89 (was £3.79), Pizza Express 12” pizzas are half-price at £2.50 and Walkers Sensations are 99p (was £1.99). And, for some fruit and veg, grab a punnet of kiwi fruit for 56p (was £1.49), 400g of organic strawberries for £1.99 (was £3.99) and two packs of rhubarb for £5 (usually £3.99 each).
This weekend at Lidl grab these half-price deals: 450g of cooked Scottish mussels in garlic butter or white wine sauce for 99p, 500g of Oaklands red grapes for 99p and Fin Carre chocolate bars for 22p. These four deals are only up for grabs on Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, you can save 40p on 375g of diced chicken breast for £2.29, or a buy a beef roasting joint for £4.99 per kg (was £6.99) and if you’re pulling together a roast, grab an XXL bag of onions for £1.39 (5kg) and potatoes for £1.89 (7.5kg).
Finally, check out the special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 23% off an 18-pack of meaty pork sausages, now £6.27 (was £8.13), 18% off six British pork chops, now £7.07 (was £8.58) and 35% off a 600g pack of gourmet chicken drumsticks, now £4.41 (was £6.79).
Drink deals
Morrisons is selling 1 litre bottles of booze for £15 including Bells Whisky, Gordon’s Gin, Smirnoff Vodka and Bacardi White Rum. There are also better than half price deals on lots of wines; First Cape Premium Bin Red, now £3.99 (was £9.19), Namaqua Elephant River Chenin Blanc Chardonnay, now £4.49 (was £9.99) and Campo Rojo Gran Seleccion, now £3.99 (was £8.49).
You also get free delivery on all orders placed at Tesco Wine (by the case) before midnight on Sunday 1st April. Do check out the wines of the week – you can save 50% on cases such Ogio Zinfandel Rosé, reduced from £56.94 to £28.44 per case, equivalent to £4.74 per bottle.

Move now to get 25p off on any Baby Zilli Stage 2 product and this voucher for 20p off a Stage 1 Brekkie or Pud. Both coupons expire on the 31st March 2012.

Online at Whittard you can save 20% on any tea order using the code TEATIME, expires midnight Saturday 24th March. Or if you prefer Twinings use code AFF01009 for 10% off orders over £15.
There is still time for new Sainsbury’s customers to save £10 on orders over £50 using the MVC code GVPT-LP3J-MXY6, which expires Saturday 31st March.
Another MVC code MVCW will save you 15% on orders over £20 at Thorntons, ends this Sunday 25th March.
Another big one this week is for Tesco shoppers new and old – if you spend £40 online and get it delivered by Sunday 25th March they will email you a voucher entitling you to £5 off you’re your next £40 shop (which must be delivered before Sun 1st April. Various items are excluded such as tobacco products, prescriptions and infant formula so these won’t count towards the spend. See the details here.
There are a few more Pizza Hut Delivery codes too: first up get 25% off orders over £25 using VCF2525LD; save £10 on orders over £30 using VCF3RTYRL; use VCNP3W4FA to get 40% off orders over £35; and from last week enter the code VCL241LHG for 2 for 1 pizzas – but this for collection only – all of these expire on 22nd April.
