MRT construction, a hospital and a floating seafood restaurant - these are some of the plans the opposition Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) has for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday evening, the SDA’s chief media officer Harminder Pal Singh outlined developments and programmes the party wanted to advocate for the residents there.

In terms of improving infrastructure in the GRC, SDA said that it intends to advocate for more schools and childcare centres, a LRT link between Pasir Ris and Punggol and even a water taxi to link Punggol Settlement, Pasir Ris and Changi Ferry terminal.

Last on the SDA's list of what they wanted to advocate was a "Full time Member of Parliament".

One Facebook user who commented on the post said the SDA should focus on bread and butter issues instead such as CPF withdrawal and social welfare access for lower income families. “If topics are focused only for contested grc, this will further divide us as Singaporean (sic),” wrote Wong Sunny.

Another user, Erik De Light, questioned how much these projects would cost. “And what will be the cost of all these? Idea is good. Bet the people won't love it,” he wrote.

By late morning Thursday, the post had gotten 22 likes and 13 shares.
