picture via NSP’s facebook page The tagline for the National Solidarity Party (NSP) reads “Singaporeans Deserves Better!”. I agree. However, NSP is likely not going to be the political party to deliver that. At the last general election, it was clear to everyone that NSP was revitalised and carried along by one single shining candidate […]

National Solidarity Party member Mohamed Fazli Talip has quit - the second to resign from the party in a week.

The central executive committee (CEC) member posted the news on Facebook around 5pm on Monday evening.

“With a heavy heart, I have submitted my resignation from NSP with immediate effect. I wish the party All the best of luck in the coming GE,” he wrote.

He told the Straits Times he was disappointed by some of the party’s decisions.

Fazli, 34, contested in the 2011 general election under the Workers’ Party (WP) in East Coast GRC.

Last Wednesday, the NSP’s acting party secretary general Hazel Poa quit because she disagreed with the party’s decision to enter a three-cornered fight in MacPherson Single-Member Constituency (SMC). NSP had earlier agreed during horse-trading talks to step aside and allow WP to contest the SMC where the People’s Action Party is fielding Tin Pei Ling.

NSP council member Steve Chia then suddenly announced on Sunday that he would not contest in MacPherson. He also blamed netizens for negative publicity over his role in the MacPherson contest. Chia's post did not indicate whether he was quitting the party.
