“Glee” star Darren Criss announces the birth of his son, named Brother

The Broadway singer and actor also has a 2-year-old daughter with his wife, Mia.

Glee star Darren Criss has a new baby, just in time for Father’s Day.

Criss, 37, and his wife Mia recently announced the birth of their second child, writing on Instagram, “M & D just delivered their follow-up single. Brother László Criss. 6/3/24. Out now.”

In response to questions in the comments, the singer and actor then edited the caption to clarify: "...and yes his first name is Brother."

In the accompanying photo, the baby in question seems unbothered by the online hubbub, calmly serving a Mona Lisa smile behind oversized shades.

Brother was born on June 3 and immediately started living up to his name for the couple’s daughter, Bluesy Bell, who is 2.

In the pantheon of celebrity child names, Bluesy and Brother sit closer to the “barely causes a ripple” side of the scale alongside Apple Paltrow (daughter of Gwyneth and Chris Martin) and Bronx Mowgli (son of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz), while Elon Musk and Grimes’ brood — X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus — occupy the “what’s that, now?” end of the spectrum.

Criss, an Emmy and Golden Globe winner, recently assumed the role of Seymour opposite Evan Rachel Wood in the Westside Theater production of Little Shop of Horrors, and he’s set to star in the Broadway debut of the South Korean musical Maybe Happy Ending, which tells the story of two robots falling in love.

“If there's any incentive to come see the show — other than a wonderful theatrical experience with a lot of beautiful universal themes and all that great stuff and fantastic music, and hopefully good performances — if not that, it's at least to soften the punishment and wrath of the AI takeover,” Criss told EW earlier this month.

Maybe Happy Ending begins previews in September.
