Hacken Lee denies winning hefty prize money

3 Aug - Hacken Lee has denied rumours that he has received RMB7.5 million (approximately USD1.3 million) in monetary prize after winning the first episode of the singing competition, "King of Mask Singer".

According to Mingpao News, the singer, who was spotted at his alma mater recently, clarified the rumours, saying, "I have not won that much money. But if we want to talk about the amount, all I can say is that it was a reasonable amount."

Hacken stressed that he didn't join the competition to win money, but to test himself and teach his two boys about life.

As for comments made by some Netizens that judges, including Eric Moo, were pretending not to recognise him during the performance, Hacken replied, "I am not sure if he really recognised me or not. It's more or less done to create an atmosphere."

Hacken emphasised that he didn't mind the criticism, saying that it shows the programme was able to create a lot of discussion among viewers.
