The Xbox One's year-end publicity campaign has kicked off with a one-minute montage of the console's four biggest games.

Leading the line is "Rise of the Tomb Raider," which arrives the week of November 10 on both Xbox One and predecessor Xbox 360.

Courageous archaeologist Lara Croft is back for a second origin story following the success of 2013's series reboot.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is arguably the console's biggest upcoming game, set for an October 27 release on Xbox One, with a revamped online multiplayer mode and a campaign featuring both franchise hero Master Chief and his pursuer Spartan Locke.

Both the "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" collection and racing game "Forza Motorsport 6" are already available, well received upon their respective September and August releases.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" is, strictly speaking, a multiplatform release, but Microsoft Studios has secured several months of exclusivity for Xbox One before the game comes to Windows PC (another Microsoft platform) and then PlayStation 4 late on in 2016.

Meanwhile, PlayStation has its own set of treasure-hunting action adventures, "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection," going to retail from October 7 (Europe) and October 9 (North America), replacing an "Uncharted 4" bumped to March 2016.

PlayStation is also expected to lean on its new partnership with "Call of Duty," which up until very recently was affiliated with Xbox, as "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" draws near on November 6.
