Hamish Linklater Joins ‘Gen V’ For Season 2

Hamish Linklater (Manhunt, Abraham Lincoln) has been cast as a series regular in Prime Video’s Gen V for Season 2, Deadline has confirmed. He will portray Cipher, the newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University who is described as “charismatic and charming.” Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.

Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt.

Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when superpowers are involved.

The cast also includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Asa Germann and Shelley Conn.

Chance Perdomo, who starred in Season 1 as Andre Anderson, tragically died in a motorcycle accident in Upstate New York while on his way to begin production in late March on Season 2 in Toronto. Production was delayed following the accident to mourn the loss of their colleague and to figure out how the story would proceed. Filming is currently underway in Toronto.

Gen V is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Variety was the first to report the casting.
