The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have posted a goodbye message on their official Instagram account, as they step away from life as senior members of the royal family this week.

Harry and Meghan shared a quote thanking their followers on the social media platform, which reads: "Thank you to this community for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world."

In the accompanying caption, the couple revealed that they will no longer post on the @SussexRoyal Instagram account they established last year and have used to share details of their charitable endeavours.

"As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute," the pair explained.

They added: "While you may not see us here, the work continues."

However, Harry and Meghan also hinted that their social media departure may just be a hiatus, continuing: "We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great!"

The caption ended with a lovely farewell message "Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another," it concluded.

The moving post was shared on the eve of Harry and Meghan's official departure from royal life on Tuesday (31 March), which was initially announced back in January.
