Harry Potter fans are surprised to discover a secret sex scene found during the ending credits of the Prisoner of Azkaban film.

The names of all the cast members are set against a backdrop of the Marauder’s Map, which shows hundreds of footsteps walking around Hogwarts Castle.

Footprints show two people can be seen in a suggestive position. One has their legs apart against the wall; another stands facing them moving their feet.

The ending credits are 11 minutes long and when the film came out they were the longest of their kind.

Rus Wetherell, the man in charge of the sequence, worked for over 20 days to complete them. One night when he was working until 4am on the credits, he saw the nook and decided to add in the couple.

Wetherell told Huffington Post: “There was an alcove in the artwork, it was kind of like an opportunity to have a couple of students hiding in there.

“So I just threw a couple of feet down. It was just something there that was amusing for the adults in the audience and kids wouldn't really understand.“

Fans took to Reddit to express their shock at the secret “sex scene”.

One person said: “If that's not a sex move I don't know what is.”

Another wrote: “It’s very clearly meant to be a couple kissing.”

While a third said: “Whoa. Who could those two be??”

But according to Wetherell, the feet are nothing more than a ”behind the bike shed“ moment that ”wasn't meant to be any particular character from the movie“.

”Maybe it was meant to be Harry, but we've all been kids, we've all been in school and stuff... It was just a sort of little peck on the cheek,“ added Wetherell.

According to Wetherell, the couple's feet ”are in an embrace“ and ”not having sex as everyone says”.

The addition of the feet ended up making the final movie because, when director Alfonso Cuarón spotted the moment, he started laughing and ”just went nuts“.

Originally, Wetherell suggested doing more with the feet, but Cuarón told him just to leave it and move on. ”It was just a little light heartedness and bringing a bit of a smile to people,“ said Wetherell.
