Harting, Heidler to compete at athletics championships

Discus thrower Robert Harting and hammer thrower Betty Heidler headline the 75-strong German team for the world athletics championships, the German athletics federation announced on Monday. Harting, 27, and Heidler, 28, are considered as Germany's best medal hopes as they bid for a total of ten in Daegu, South Korea from August 27-September 4, compared with nine in 2009 in Berlin. Harting produced the second world best this season (68.99m) while Heidler, the 2007 world champion and silver medallist in 2009, won the European title last year and broke the world record (79.42m) last May.
