HoYo's next-level marketing promotion, creating a new rose for Honkai: Star Rail character Argenti's release
As a Knight of Beauty and a devout follower of the Aeon of Beauty Idrila, roses feature prominently in Argenti's character design and animations.
Honkai: Star Rail has cooked up one of the most unique game promotions we've seen in a while.
In a post on the official Honkai: Star Rail Weibo account, developer HoYoverse announced its collaboration with the Beijing Academy of Forestry and Landscape Architecture to create a new variant of rose flower called 'Argenti' to promote the game's upcoming new 5-star character the same name.
Argenti is a member of the Knights of Beauty and a devout follower of the Aeon of Beauty Idrila. With his striking red hair, dashing looks, and a chivalrous personality, Argenti perfectly embodies the virtues of a Knight of Beauty.
Roses are fittingly a prominent feature of his character design and animations, which is at the heart of HoYoverse's unique promotion.
While the developer did not share exactly what went into the creation of the new 'Argenti' rose, they said that it will undergo large-scale cultivation at the Yunnan flower planting base and enter the market in the Spring of 2024.
The first batch of Argenti roses will be showcased at an offline pop-up event at Shanghai Station. There will also be limited floral installations in the cities of Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Xiamen.
HoYoverse has yet to announce plans to showcase the new Argenti roses to fans outside of China.
"May the Trailblazers feel the beauty of "Argenti" roses around them. May your mood from now on be as gorgeous and beautiful as a blooming rose!" HoYoverse said in the announcement.
Argenti is the featured 5-star character for the second half of Honkai: Star Rail version 1.5, which will go live on Wednesday (6 December). He will be making his debut alongside the new 4-star character Hanya.
As a playable character, Argenti wields the Physical element and follows the Path of Erudition, specialising in dealing large amounts of area-of-effect damage.
The most unique part of Argenti's kit is his ultimate, which has two energy thresholds that can be reached. While the ultimate can be used to deal Physical DMG to all enemies after reaching the first threshold, using it after reaching the second makes it deal even more damage.
Argenti's high energy costs is supported by his Talent, which lets him regenerate additional energy whenever he uses his basic attack, skill, or ultimate. It also lets him acquire stacks of Apotheosis, which increases his Crit Rate, that is stackable up to a certain amount.
Honkai: Star Rail is currently in the first half of version 1.5 with the Wind Abundance character Huohuo as the banner 5-star character. The second half of this update will feature the debuts of the 5-star Physical Erudition character Argenti and the 4-star Physical Harmony character Hanya.
Version 1.6 in December will also see the release of three new characters in Ruan Mei, Dr. Ratio, and Xueyi.
