Ian Stewart jailed for 34-years for murder of Helen Bailey

Ian Stewart has been sentenced to 34-years in jail for the murder of celebrated children's author Helen Bailey.

The 56-year-old, who is in poor health, will probably die behind bars, after being found guilty of the premeditated murder of his fiance.

Stewart killed and dumped Ms Bailey's body in a cesspit at the home they shared in Royston, Hertfordshire, as part of a plan to get his hands on her £4 million fortune.

The judge Andrew Bright QC, said he was satisfied the murder had been motivated by money.

He said: "I am firmly of the view that you currently pose a real danger to women with whom you form a relationship."
