These four startups will be partnering with building owners and various agencies to pilot innovative technology such as AI, data analytics and IoT to address key security challenges

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have awarded a total of S$2.5 million (US$1.82M) funding to four security startups in Singapore.

The investment was made as part of the Security Industry Transformation Map (ITM) launched by MHA in February 2018. This project is aimed at encouraging technology providers to co-create new digital solutions with the security sector.

These four startups will be partnering with building owners and security agencies in the country to pilot innovative technology such as Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and Internet of Things to address key challenges outlined in the Security ITM.

The four startups are:

Vi Dimensions

Founded in 2015, Vi Dimensions (ViD) aims to use cameras and video analytics to improve security operations. The startup’s flagship product, ARVAS, uses a self- learning algorithm which does not require the surveillance operator to pre-define any rules for real-time detection.

ViD’s automated surveillance monitoring system will be piloted at six CapitaLand malls and NEX shopping mall. The project aims to transform the business and operating models of the security sector through automated security surveillance monitoring and detecting abnormal events 24×7.

On Tuesday, ViD announced it raised a S$1 million (US$730,000) in Series AA round from DeClout Ventures, a group of partners from a leading Asian hedge fund, as well as existing investor Tembusu ICT Fund I.

Xjera Labs

Xjera is an AI video analytics company with offices. The firm has developed video analytics solutions for various applications including security, retail, construction etc. Xjera is also providing AI-as-a-service to empower companies in niche verticals.

Xjera’s Multi-Signal Surveillance Platform prototype will be piloted indoors at Changi Airport. This project aims to enable automated security surveillance by combining video analytics with audio intelligence to reduce false positive alerts in indoor environments and thus reduce manual monitoring of video feeds on-screens.

uberGARD

Established in 2008, uBerGARD launched its first product, Intelligent Key Lock Application System (iKLAS), a web-based key management system that controls and tracks the usage and movement of keys. Its new generation key management systems aim to offer a better alternative to the use of physical keys through automated key retrieval and key-press access. The system’s features include anomaly detection, auto IRIS and facial recognition access control. This prototype will be piloted at Secom’s (Singapore) premises.

ARKemis

ARKemis offers sustainable and scalable IT platforms which are methodology driven to address public safety needs. ARKemis’s advanced IoT sensor platform supports a variety of operating systems.

ARKemis’ SSOps.com will pilot the prototype at Advertent Security’s Command Centre, the Sommerville Grandeur condominium and Synergy Hub at Kaki Bukit premises. The new digital solution will help to digitalise the security workflow and processes by reducing reliance on security manpower in managing a site and ensuring compliance with Police Licensing & Regulatory Department (PLRD) regulatory grading requirements. It will also enable realistic red-teaming exercises for security officers training and address Advertent Security’s specific use-cases on-site.
