India, Singapore to sign strategic partnership on Tuesday

India and Singapore will sign a strategic partnership on Tuesday to boost ties in the economic, defence and cultural sectors, Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is making an official visit to Singapore on Monday and Tuesday, will sign the agreement with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Modi will also call on Singapore’s President Tony Tan.

His visit also marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and India this year.  To mark the milestone, Modi and Lee will unveil a commemorative joint stamp issue.

Modi will deliver the 37th Singapore Lecture on Monday.  He will also deliver an address at the India-Singapore Economic Convention on Tuesday.

In addition, he will visit ITE College Central, where he will learn more about Singapore’s approach to vocational education and skills training.
