The growing bot traffic on internet has been a serious concern for many online businesses across the world, and this has resulted in significant financial as well as data losses for them in the last few years.

India-based InfiSecure has a solution to this problem. The startup, which provides a real-time bot detection and protection platform to a number of enterprises, has just raised US$600,000 in seed funding from IDG Ventures and Axilor Ventures, two active VC funds in India.

The funds will be used for research and global business development. There will be a strong focus on technology innovation to cover more aspects of website protection, it said in a statement.

Abhilash Pandey, an IIM-Calcutta alumnus and Founder of InfiSecure, said, “There cannot be a more relevant time for InfiSecure’s bot protection platform than now, when bots constitute more than half of the global internet traffic. With evolving technologies, bot frauds have reached new heights, negatively impacting every online business in more ways than ever before. With InfiSecure, we help businesses keep their websites secured so that they can focus on their core businesses.”

Launched in 2016 by Pandey, Sandeep Singh and Ashish Kumar Singh, InfiSecure is a bot protection platform that sanitises a website’s traffic and improves business metrics using a 24×7 active SaaS solution. The company is already protecting several global online businesses from scraping, bot abuse, fake traffic fraud, content theft, form spam and other online frauds that are caused by bots.

It also gives businesses insights about their bot traffic and eliminates bad, unwanted or suspicious behaviour in real-time.

“The platform is built on a very scalable architecture that is reshaping the bot protection industry. With strong focus on Big Data and machine learning technologies, we would remain a technology-first and innovation-driven company. Our strong focus on R&D has led us to acquire many global customers who were looking for the ‘right’ bot protection for their websites. R&D will remain a focus point for us in the next year post the current funding round,” said Ashish Kumar Singh, CTO at InfiSecure.

InfiSecure is not the only player in this space. Bangalore-based ShieldSquare, started in 2013, also provides a cloud-based, real-time bot prevention solution that helps online businesses differentiate between human and non-human traffic (bots) on their websites and mobile apps.

The startup recently secured an undisclosed amount of funding from Venture Highway (through VH Capital). Vishy Poosala, Engineering Director at Facebook, and existing investors also participated in the round. Previously, it has bagged an funding from StartupXseed and a few well-known names in the Indian startup industry such as Girish Mathrubootham of Freshdesk and Phanindra Sama of redBus.
