By now, you’ve probably been tagged in a few Instagram challenges. And if you’re like me, then you’ve also declined to participate in them—film myself as I attempt to look graceful doing push-ups? No thanks. But there’s a challenge emerging that doesn’t require the tricky balance between performance art and cardio work. Instead, it’ll just beautify your home while also helping you connect more with nature. The challenge in question? Foraging for flowers. Finally, a hashtag we can all get behind.

Because when you can’t buy bouquets or order any to be delivered for whatever reason, it’s time to be resourceful. Since, as interior decorator Chloe Warner of Redmond Aldrich Design tells HB, “flowers are the best way to bring life and color and scent inside,” it’s worth getting scrappy. “If we are sheltering in place, at least we can make it a nice place” with fresh florals, she says.

Another silver lining: It’s spring! So there’s plenty in bloom. Whether you simply snap a few photos of what’s blossoming in your neighborhood during a walk or you’re able to forage for flowers in your own backyard to create an arrangement, bringing the blooms inside and sharing them with others is a great way to connect over something beautiful and optimistic during these strange, trying times. Don’t forget to hashtag your post with #foragedflowerchallenge so we can all get in on the natural beauty too.
