James Corden Tried To Get A Funny Tattoo, But It Turns Out The Joke Is On Him
James Corden tried to get a tattoo he thought was āquite funnyā to make fun of all of his friends, but it turns out the joke was on him.
āThe Late Late Showā host explained the backstory behind his one and only tattoo while talking about ink with guest Dakota Johnson on the show Wednesday.
The actor spoke with Corden about the artwork he has on his right calf, asking him, āWhat does that symbol mean? Are you sure you know what it means?ā
His answer was something along the lines of ānot really.ā
āWell, this is the thing. So, I thought it meant ā originally I thought it meant ātattoo,ā which I thought was quite funny,ā Corden said of his tattoo, which is a Chinese symbol.
āāCause all my friends were getting Chinese symbols and I thought it would be funny if I get the Chinese symbol for ātattoo,āā he explained. āTurns out, it doesnāt mean that.ā
āIt means āhappy go lucky,ā which Iām not mad at,ā he said to a few laughs from the audience. āBut then someone else told me they thought it might mean ācrane.āā
āCrane, like, a machine or a bird?ā Johnson asked.
āThe machine, I think.ā Corden answered.
āIām fine with āhappy go lucky.ā Iām pleased with ātattoo.ā And if it means ācrane,ā Iāll live with it,ā he said. āI donāt even have to really see it.ā
Johnson, for her part, estimated she has 11 or 12 tattoos in total.
If youād like to see what Corden would look like with even more ink, he once posed shirtless and covered in tattoos for a WSJ Magazine cover story in 2016.
At the time, āThe Promā actor tweeted that it was his friend, Harry Styles, āwho inspired the look!ā
