Jeff Goldblum shares two sons with his wife, Emilie Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum is the proud father of two sons, Charlie and River.

The Jurassic Park star shares his kids with his wife, Canadian dancer and rhythmic gymnast Emilie Goldblum. The couple got married in November 2014 in Los Angeles, and welcomed their first son, Charlie, less than a year later, in July 2015. They welcomed their second son, River, in April 2017.

Although Goldlbum was 62 when he first became a father, he doesn’t have any regrets about waiting, saying he’s “glad” he did.

“It feels great to do it right now, because all the things I’m considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to,” he told British outlet iNews in 2018. “What you want to leave them with, what life is, and what kind of life you contribute to them.”

The actor has also shared that he loves being a dad, saying it’s “such fun.” Shortly after he turned 70, he spoke with Hoda Kotb on Today about being an older father, calling it “amazing” and “revivifying,” and adding that it has “enhanced” his relationship with his wife.

“And it’s challenging and it’s sometimes maddening and very volatile,” Jeff added. “As you know, at 3 and 5, 5 and 7, they can be like feral creatures unleashed. Oh yeah, and sweet and amazing. It’s great.”

Charlie Ocean Goldblum, 8

Jeff and Emilie welcomed their first son, Charlie Ocean, on July 4, 2015.

They shared the news alongside a sweet photo of the three of them on the actor's official Facebook page, writing, “We’re so excited to share the wonderful news of the birth of our son, Charlie Ocean Goldblum, born on the 4th of July. Independence Day.”

Fittingly, Jeff was in the middle of shooting Independence Day: Resurgence when his son was born.

In a 2016 interview with Parade, Jeff explained that Charlie's moniker came from a beloved family member. “My uncle was my exact height, looked like me. Chuckie died in his 20s as a pilot in World War II," he said. Charlie's middle name, Ocean, was inspired by Jeff and Emilie's love of the beach.

In 2016, Jeff and Emilie opened up to PEOPLE about their new roles as parents, talking about Charlie's sleep routine and how they were amazed by the new things he did every day.

Emilie noted that they went to the pool often, saying that Charlie loved swimming. “Oh, he was great in the pool,” Jeff said. The Isle of Dogs actor also shared that their firstborn loved bathtime.

At 8 years old, Charlie showed an interest in music — in February 2024, Emilie posted a cute video on Instagram of her older son playing the piano. “He loves his speed, rapidity and holy sox!” she wrote in the caption. “Don’t comment on the fact that his feet are almost as big as mine😭.”

River Joe Goldblum, 7

On April 7, 2017, Jeff and Emilie welcomed their second son, River Joe.

To announce his birth, the mom of two shared some sweet photos on her Instagram of the new family of four.

“I can’t believe it’s been a week already!” she captioned the photos. “River Joe Goldbum was born 4/7/17 at 8:53am. Charlie Ocean is such a sweet and caring older brother. We couldn’t be happier!!!” She added, “@jeffgoldblum is our rock and continues to be an exceptionally loving and passionate father! Love my boys!!!❤.”

Emilie posts updates on Charlie and River on her Instagram account, including how both boys inherited a love of travel from their parents.

In 2023 and 2024, Emilie posted videos and photos of them traveling throughout Italy. One video shows the family in Lucca and Pisa, with Emilie saying the boys loved touring the city on bikes.

Another video shows the family riding horses together. The caption states, “Charlie and River were SOOO happy taking care of these horses and ponies and didn't want it to end, like ever!!!”
