Jill Biden Repurposes Satin Purple Dress for the 12th Anniversary of DACA at White House
Jill Biden recycled a look she previously wore in April 2023 for the 12th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) on Tuesday at the White House in Washington, D.C. The first lady of the United States joined President Joe Biden and offered remarks on the historic occasion.
For the event, Biden repurposed a satin dress in a shade of purple. The dress featured three-quarter-length sleeves and a statement element of ruched fabric around the neckline. Biden’s dress also featured a subtle, defined waist.

Along with the frock, Biden accessorized with stacked bracelets, including gold bangles and strands of pearls. She wore pearl earrings, as well.
As for the rest of her glam, Biden’s blond hair was styled with soft waves and a side part. Her makeup featured a statement eye with a soft pink lip. The orchid shade of her dress was an ideal color now that spring has transitioned to summer.
The dress is the exact same look Biden previously wore to another White House event in April 2023, when the Bidens welcomed South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and South Korean first lady Kim Keon-hee for a state dinner. The occasion coincided with the two presidents signing the “Washington Declaration,” an agreement in which the two nations will work together when it comes to the potential use of nuclear arms, military training and information concerning North Korea.
Biden follows a trend that other women in public-facing positions have fashioned in the recent past: recycling or upcycling previously worn dresses.
This isn’t the first time Biden has repurposed a dress she previously wore. Biden recycled a pixelated dress by Akris in August 2023 to celebrate back-to-school season. She also repurposed a regal purple dress she wore in June 2023 for the visit of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Along with first lady Jill Biden, women like Queen Camilla of England and Kate Middleton have repurposed dresses and outfits they’ve worn for public events and occasions, demonstrating the versatility and wearability of their wardrobe.
