Jonathan Jackson is returning to “General Hospital” as Lucky Spencer

Bryan Craig is also set to make a one-episode appearance as Morgan Corinthos this summer.

Good news, General Hospital fans: The prodigal son is coming home.

Jonathan Jackson, who originated the role of Lucky Spencer back in 1993, is returning to the long-running soap opera for the first time since 2015, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed. The five-time Daytime Emmy winner will be back in Port Charles later this summer for what is said to be a long stint.

Dedicated viewers of General Hospital will recall Lucky as the troubled yet noble son of supercouple Luke and Laura Spencer (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis). A Port Charles police detective, Lucky endured a series of tragic storylines over the years, including his struggles with addiction and the death of his wife.

Jackson's return comes after the shocking departure of Geary, whose character Luke was killed off in a cable car accident in 2022.

As Lucky, Jackson has appeared in more than 380 episodes of the daytime drama. He first departed the show in 1999, with the role passing over to Jacob Young and then Greg Vaughan. Jackson then returned to the series in 2009 before exiting two years later for a role on the ABC-turned-CMT musical drama Nashville. He briefly returned as Lucky again in 2015.

During his run on the soap, Jackson was nominated for nine Daytime Emmy Awards, winning in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2011, and 2012.

Jackson isn't the only familiar face returning to General Hospital this summer. EW has also learned that Bryan Craig will reprise his role as Morgan Corinthos — the late son of Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) —for one episode.

Craig's nearly four-year run on the series wrapped up in 2016, after Morgan was (presumably) killed by a car bomb. He made one brief return to the show in 2018, when Morgan appeared to Maura West's Ava in a vision. During his tenure on the soap, Craig won two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.

Deadline Hollywood first reported Jackson's return to GH.
