Jordan Weiss & Michelle Nader Sell NFL-Themed Rom-Com Pitch To New Line

EXCLUSIVE: Jordan Weiss and Michelle Nader, collaborators on Hulu’s Dollface, have sold a romantic comedy pitch to New Line Cinema, sources tell Deadline.

Set against the backdrop of the NFL playoffs, the as-yet-untitled film will watch as two veteran “players” in the game of love, who typically date younger, find their match when they meet each other.

Weiss and Nader come to the project following two seasons on the LuckyChap-produced Dollface, starring Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell and Esther Povitsky, which Weiss created, and for which Nader served as executive producer.

The deal further deepens Weiss’ relationship with New Line, which is releasing her directorial debut Sweethearts on Max this fall. Weiss also co-wrote and executive produced that film, which stars Kiernan Shipka, Jake Bongiovi and Charlie Hall. At present, she is also in business with the company as the writer for its adaptation of the Curtis Sittenfeld novel Romantic Comedy, on which Hello Sunshine is also a producer.

Creating and exec producing Dollface at just 26, Weiss’s series watches as a young woman tries to reconnect with friends, after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend. Most recently, she was tapped to write the long-anticipated Freaky Friday 2, which is heading into production this summer with Nisha Ganatra at the helm.

Currently, Nader serves as showrunner and exec producer of the comedy series Deli Boys for Hulu and Onyx Collective. Also an exec producer on the Dennings-led seried 2 Broke Girls, her other TV credits include the U.S. version of Australian sitcom Kath & Kim (which she created), as well as The King of Queens and Spin City.

Weiss is represented by UTA, Mosaic and Felker Toczek Suddleson. Nader is repped by CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
