Jorge Masvidal Picking Teammate Adriano Moraes to Beat Demetrious Johnson

Reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes is getting ready for the biggest fight of his professional career when he takes on multiple-time flyweight world champion and UFC legend Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.

The two are scheduled to square off in the Circle in the main event of “ONE on TNT,” the first of a four-part event series which commences on Wednesday, April 7, live on U.S. prime time.

The BMF Champ himself, Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, who trains with Moraes at American Top Team in South Florida, is picking “Mikinho” to upset Johnson.

“He (Moraes) is fighting one of the greatest, I think, of all-time — Demetrious Johnson — pound-for-pound one of the best,” Masvidal was quoted as saying in a recent video during training.

“But I’ll tell you what, my money’s on this guy (Adriano Moraes) and I’ll tell you why, because of this (points to heart), and the skill that this guy brings in. I train with this guy. I watch him train every day. It’s going to be one of the greatest fights ever, and it’s going to be one of the best upsets ever. Check my boy out, American Top Team. Let’s go.”

Moraes is deep in preparations for the fight, which takes place less than two months from now. He’s 9-3 with ONE Championship, and is currently on his second reign as champion since reclaiming the title from Filipino fighter Geje Eustaquio in January of 2019.

Johnson, on the other hand, joined ONE Championship in March of 2019, in a well-publicized trade with former ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben “Funky” Askren. “Mighty Mouse” has since won three straight for ONE, capturing the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship in the process after beating Filipino Danny Kingad in the tournament final that same year.

The “ONE on TNT” series will air every Wednesday from April 7 to April 28. Each week will include a preliminary card digitally streamed exclusively on the Bleacher Report App and B/R Live from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, followed by three main card fights televised exclusively on TNT in the U.S. at 10 p.m. ET.

The stacked April 7 card will also feature the return of former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez who faces #2-ranked lightweight contender Iuri Lapicus in the co-main event, as well as an appearance from reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon of Thailand.

“We look forward to introducing our unique brand of martial arts to the U.S. on prime time. American fans can expect something fresh, new, and completely different from anything that is currently available in the U.S. As always, we will feature some of the greatest World Champions across various martial arts alongside a few familiar, legendary names,” said ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

In the meantime, download the ONE Super App to catch ONE: FISTS OF FURY on 26 February from Singapore, where ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Ilias Ennahachi and #2-ranked contender “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9.
