Jujutsu Kaisen movie to premiere in Japan this Christmas Eve
On Sunday (13 June), it was announced during the Juju Fest 2021, a Jujutsu Kaisen commemorative event, that Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie will premiere in Japan on 24 December 2021.
A teaser visual was released along with the announcement, which showed Yuta Okkotsu, the main character in the movie, holding the hands of a young, long-haired girl.
One of the most popular anime series recently, Jujutsu Kaisen spins a horror fantasy story about cursed spirits and jujutsu sorcerers. While its anime series focuses on the experiences of high school student Yuji Itadori, who becomes the host of a powerful curse named Ryomen Sukuna, the movie goes back in time to the origins of such cursed spirits.
Here's a teaser video of the movie that was previously released:
A story of love and curses, the movie will see Yuta haunted by the spirit of his childhood friend Rika, who died in a traffic accident. Her cursed spirit manifests as a monstrous entity, who mercilessly kills anyone she deems a threat to Yuta.
The helpless and dejected Yuta is offered the option by special grade jujutsu sorcerer and teacher Satoru Gojo to join Tokyo Jujutsu High and learn to control Rika’s immense power. His peers in the school include Maki Zenin, a cursed tools user; Toge Inumaki, a cursed speech user; and Panda, a talking panda — all of whom appeared in the anime series as Yuji’s seniors.
There is no word yet on an international release, but judging from the popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen, we can perhaps catch the movie locally sometime in 2022.
