Jurgen Klopp named Premier League Manager of the Season after Liverpool's dominant title triumph
The individual accolades continue to pile up for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who has been officially named as the Premier League Manager of the Season.
The German enjoyed an extraordinary 2019/20, successfully rallying his European champions after the bitter blow of missing out by a single point on the last day of the previous campaign to secure the dominant Reds' first domestic league title for 30 years with seven matches to spare.
Liverpool wrapped up league glory at a canter behind closed doors after the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, losing just three matches all season - none at home - and finishing 18 points ahead of deposed champions Manchester City with a club-record haul of 99.
Those exploits unsurprisingly led to Klopp being touted as the runaway favourite for several managerial prizes.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss won the prestigious League Managers Association's (LMA) Manager of the Year award last month and was also shortlisted for the Barclays Manager of the Season accolade.
Klopp - who picked up a record five Manager of the Month awards during the season - was also named as the winner of that latter award on Saturday morning.
Among those to miss out was Frank Lampard, who guided Chelsea to fourth place in the Premier League and an FA Cup Final appearance in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Also nominated were Leicester's Brendan Rodgers and Chris Wilder, with the latter guiding newly-promoted Sheffield United to a top-half finish after spending much of the season in contention for European qualification.
