League of Legends (LoL) developer Riot Games has finally released the teaser for the game’s newest champion in the top lane: K’sante.

This champion was first hinted back in the Champion Roadmap in April 2022, and was described as a “high-skill” top lane tank and the 162nd champion on the LoL roster.

In the teaser, we see K’sante with his back to the camera as he reads something on his desk. The pillar to his right seems to be his unique, blunt weapon.

From how he looks, the champion seems to be inspired by African heritage, with dark skin and dreadlocks on his hair. Not else is known from the trailer except that he leads his people to fight desert monsters.

K’sante hails from Nazumah, an oasis city located on the southern outskirts of the desert and a newly revealed region in Shurima.

According to the lore, the residents of Nazumah had to struggle against monsters for food and water because the oasis on which the city is constructed is one of the few in the vicinity.

After a long and arduous struggle, they could finally build a community around the oasis. K'Sante's narrative begins 500 years later — he is the leader of desert monster hunters.

His one-of-a-kind weapon is fashioned from regenerative hide, which he earned after defeating one of the desert's most ferocious monsters. It is a blunt weapon that may be fractured to reveal intricately constructed, razor-sharp blades within. The hide then regenerates spontaneously back into its blunt shape.

K’sante to get a Lil Nas X-inspired Worlds 2022 skin

It was also confirmed earlier that K’sante will also get a Worlds 2022 skin inspired by American rapper and singer Lil Nas X called 'Prestige Empyrean K’sante'.

Players can get this exclusive skin at the Worlds 2022 event pass. The skin will cost 2,000 Worlds 2022 Event tokens.

Lil Nas X was “announced as the president of League of Legends” last month, as a teaser to his LoL World Championship anthem, Star Walkin’. His song and the Worlds 2022 music video were released last September.

Finally, some tank and top lane love

This finally somewhat addresses the request of top lane players who are eager for Riot to show some love for LoL’s most neglected lane and champion type.

Gwen was the last top lane champion released by Riot in April 2020, and she’s not even a tank.

It’s also the first time in two years that the game has released a tank, with Ornn being the last tank in the top lane in 2020, and in the same year, Rell (support), the last tank released in the game overall.

K’sante is the 5th new champion to be released this year after Zeri, Renata Glasc, Bel’veth, and Nilah.

With K’sante’s teaser out, we expect the devs to also reveal his skills and gameplay soon. This also means that this new champion will be available for testing soon in the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

His Worlds skin, Prestige Empyrean K’sante should be available in November, to be released in Patch 12.21.
