Kadyrov forces deployed as barrier force along Ukraine’s northern border

Russia has positioned Ramzan Kadyrov’s militants along Ukraine’s northern border in Kharkiv Oblast to act as a barrier force and support the regrouping of its troops, according to Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesperson for the Khortytsia strategic troop grouping. Voloshyn shared these details during a national TV broadcast on June 10.

The deployment includes the Akhmat unit, known for its fierce loyalty to Kadyrov. This move is designed to bolster Russian troops that have experienced significant casualties and setbacks. "In order to intensify its offensive actions, the enemy is maneuvering its reserves, moving units near the Ukrainian border and supplementing its forces with reserves of the Russian airborne troops, as well as the 11th and 44th army corps," Voloshyn explained.

Additionally, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on June 8 that Russian forces might have captured another Ukrainian village, Lyptsi, located south of Hlyboke in Kharkiv Oblast. This development indicates a continued push by Russian troops in the region.

Kharkiv sector situation

General Staff on June 6 announced that during the day, Russian troops launched 20 guided aerial bombs in Kharkiv sector from Russian territory, in particular from districts of Belgorod and Shebekino in Belgorod Oblast.

On the same day, it became known that soldiers of 36th Separate Marine Brigade captured a group of Russians in Vovchansk, Kharkiv Oblast.

The marines captured the Russians during a counterattack in the town.

Kharkiv governor, Oleh Synehubov, on June 4 said that Russians had set up filtration camps in occupied part of Vovchansk.

Also on that day, Khortytsia Strategic-Operational Group of Troops reported that Armed Forces captured about 60 Russian soldiers near Vovchansk.

Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesman for Khortytsia Strategic-Operational Group of Troops, on June 2 said that the Armed Forces controlled 70% of Vovchansk, and heavy fighting was going on in the city.

Oleh Synehubov on June 8 said that Russians reduced activity of assault operations in Kharkiv sector, but continued to regroup and try to advance deeper into the region.
