SINGAPORE — The new Kallang Tennis Hub will be opened in phases starting from 15 April, and the public can begin booking its courts from Monday (8 April).

Announced in 2021 during the Singapore Tennis Open, the hub is located next to the Leisure Park Kallang shopping mall, and will house seven indoor courts and 12 outdoor courts. Three of the indoor courts are show courts with spectator stands, and two of them can be configured to host tennis tournaments with Hawk-Eye technology installed for line calls.

Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, announced the start of the court bookings at the Kallang Tennis Hub in his social media. He added in his posts, "This will be the home of tennis, and serve as TeamSG’s national training centre for our national athletes.

"These facilities can now be used in conjunction with the rest of Sports Hub. We can look at hosting major tennis tournaments alongside larger scale community activations, to include our own athletes and junior players, all in the same precinct."

National teams training at Kallang Football Hub

Together with the Kallang Football Hub, the Kallang Tennis Hub has been slated to be opened in 2024, adding to the Singapore Sports Hub's list of sporting venues. They will be part of the Kallang Alive precinct managed by the Kallang Alive Sports Management (KASM).

While the Kallang Football Hub has yet to be officially opened, national teams have already started using its facilities for training sessions. The age-group teams have also started training on its premises, which comes with a football-centric gym developed by sport scientists to condition the footballers.

"Both of these sporting venues will add to the verve and sporting culture of the Kallang precinct, and bring us further along in our plan to transform Kallang into a top class sporting and lifestyle space for Singaporeans to enjoy," Tong said in his Facebook post.

"These venues underscore the importance we place on developing our sporting talents. They will allow our athletes to train in a modern, well equipped environment, and also allow us to vie for top tier international competitions."

KASM said last year that it expects the Sports Hub to draw close to 1 million visitors with its slate of events for 2024, such as the HSBC SVNS Singapore rugby sevens tournament, the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup and Intercontinental Cup basketball competitions, as well as top global live acts such as Mayday, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.
