Kaws: Holiday makes Singapore its seventh world tour destination
SINGAPORE – Good news abound as our travel door gradually reopens. Kaws: Holiday will add a spark of delight to our city skyline with Companion, Kaws’ 42 metres long signature character. As its seventh world tour destination since 2018, Kaws: Holiday Singapore will be on display at the iconic The Float @ Marina Bay on 13 November and open to the public from 14 November.
The American artist’s first-ever colossal sculpture has toured Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Outer Space, and the United Kingdom, promoting public appreciation of the arts. The artist Kaws shared, “At a time when international travel may be challenging for many, I am thankful for the opportunity through the ongoing HOLIDAY project to bring art experiences to different localities, and am excited to come to Singapore for the first time.”
For the uninitiated, Kaws’ prolific body of work straddles art and design worlds, including paintings, murals, graphic and product design, street art, and large-scale sculptures. His works are extensively exhibited in museums around the world, including The Brooklyn Museum, New York (2021); The Mori Art Center Gallery, Tokyo (2021); The National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia (2019).
