"Kolumpo" stars share desserts!

ScoopyScoop managed to catch up with the stars and creators of the cool Malaysian film "Kolumpo", and it was a fun session as we got to see how well everyone in the film got along together.

"Kolumpo" is set in Kuala Lumpur, and the story weaves together the common themes of life, hopes and dreams directed and written by Bront Palarae, Rozi Izma and Shiekh Munasar, who was one of the people present for our chat session!

Munasar created one of the three stories in "Kolumpo" starring Sharifah Amani and newcomer Amirul Ariff, and both of them were also present, along with fellow actor Azad Jazmin, who starred in Bront Palarae's "Kolumpo" story.

During our chat, we asked them what their favourite personal desserts were if they had to choose, and all of them stopped to think before Amani piped up, "My sister, Ariana, makes a killer pavlova. And yes! She makes it herself from scratch!"

After Azad Jazmin said something along the lines of, "So could your sister come by and make some for us?" he also contributed his favourite dessert.

A banana split... in two?

"My personal favourite would be the 'banana split in two'," he said.

"Are you twelve year old!? A banana split is already a dessert," laughed Amani, "What does 'banana split in two' mean?"

"It means that it is a banana that has been split in two!" Azad responded, causing roars of laughter from his co-stars.

"Mine is 'cendol', I think," newcoming actor Amirul Ariff answered simply after he was asked about his personal favourite.

Banana fritters, or 'pisang goreng'.

After he mentioned a Malaysian classic, director Shiekh Munasar agreed, "But my own favourite is probably 'goreng pisang' (banana fritters)!"

"With ice cream?" asked Azad. "No, not with ice cream... with 'cili padi'," Munasar said.

"Because you're from Johor, right?" asked Amirul.

"Yes, I'm from Johor, and we eat fried bananas with 'cili padi' and soy sauce! That's my dessert," laughed Munasar.
