Kurt Russell is Kate Hudson’s biggest fan!

While attending a Television Academy event for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters at the Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 8, Russell, 73, told PEOPLE that he digs his stepdaughter’s debut album, Glorious.

He mentioned the title track as one of his favorites from the album. "I like that. I like the way she kicks that out there," he said of the song. "She belts that out there."

Russell went on to share that he particularly likes the songs that are "about Goldie" and his grandson Ryder – the latter of which is called “Live Forever.”

"Those songs are really good, really well done," he continued. "I think it's fun. She can sing. The girl can sing, so it's fun to see her just do it and have a fun time with it."

Glorious, released in May, marks Hudson's first studio album, though she showed off her singing chops in the musical comedy Glee when she starred as a dance teacher in the fourth season. During her brief appearance, she performed "All That Jazz" from Chicago, "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" from Grease, and a mash-up of “Americano” and “Dance Again” by Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez, respectively.

When Hudson released the music video for "Live Forever," her mother, Goldie Hawn, shared an emotional message praising her on Instagram. "My daughter's talent has transcended just being a proud mother to pure awe," she wrote.

Russell also spoke about his "proud father moments," and said his family has "a lot of people that really can do a lot of good things."

Russell and Hawn, 78, have four children: Boston Russell, 44, whom Kurt shares with ex-wife Season Hubley; Kate and Oliver Hudson, 47, from Hawn's previous relationship with Bill Hudson; and Wyatt Russell, 37, the couple's youngest, whom they welcomed together.

"Kate's got this thing going out with an album, which she's wanted to do for a while, and I'm just so happy that she picked it up and did it," Kurt told PEOPLE. "Wyatt's a really good actor and people know that. Oliver's probably worked in more stuff than all of us. Boston, so far, has chosen to be in a different world. And then, I dunno, Goldie's Goldie."

The veteran actor also opened up about whether other family members will make an appearance in Monarch, which he stars in alongside Wyatt.

"We don't do that," he said. "That's like slumming or something, you know what I mean? We all have our own worlds and we all have our own careers and lives in those careers and I think everybody kind of keeps it that way."
