Kylie Jenner slammed over Astroworld themed kids party after deadly tragedy at ex Travis Scott’s festival
Kylie Jenner has been blasted by fans for organising an Astroworld themed party for her children’s birthdays, just over a year on from the deadly festival tragedy.
In November 2021, 10 people died in a crowd crush at the Astroworld festival, founded by the artist Travis Scott, in his hometown of Houston, Texas.
Jenner, 25, shares daughter Stormi, five, and son Aire, one, with ex Scott, 31, and threw their kids a joint birthday bash this week with decorations inspired by the music event, which fans deemed a “tasteless” move.
In photos shared on social media, giant inflatable heads with mouths open were seen propped up at the party, resembling the image seen on Scott’s album cover for Astroworld, released in 2018.
These giant heads were also seen erected at the Astroworld festival.
Jenner previously used the inflatable props for her daughter’s first birthday party, and reused for them for the event, as inflatable slides and a roadmap walkway with surrounding balloons were also seen set up for the occasion.
Fans shared their offence at seeing the “demonic” decorations, as some labelled Jenner insensitive for the party theme.
“Kylie Jenner MOCKS Astroworld victims (including a 10-year-old that was trampled) with her ex Travis-Scott themed birthday party for her daughter, Stormi,” one person wrote while posting the 10 victims of the Astroworld tragedy.
A second said: “Isn’t this tasteless after the Astroworld tragedy…where children died”.
“Kylie using Astroworld branding for her children’s birthday party is a bit scary to me,” a third commented.
A fourth added: “The f*** is up with this messed up theme? Demonic much…I hated what happened in #AstroWorld”.
Jenner and Scott were reported to have split for the second time in January, after getting back together in 2020.
Despite the split, it appears the reality star doesn’t mind still being associated with her ex – even if on bad terms.
Jenner gave tribute to her son on his first birthday this week as she shared a montage clip on Instagram of the pair together.
The mum-of-two wrote: “AIRE. my son, my moon, my stars. best year of my life with you. you complete us my angel. mommy loves you. Happy 1st birthday. May God always bless you.”
