BMW announces new range of small bikes and reveals launches for Singapore in 2015

Singapore/Munich -

BMW Motorrad, which is owned by the BMW Group, has enjoyed personal sales records globally in the past three years and is on track for another one in 2014. In Singapore, the brand was the top seller amongst premium brands - although that’s changing too.

Fuelled by the boom in developing markets as well as the increasing number of new, non-traditional motorcyclists in developing countries, BMW announced it will begin making small-capacity (less than 700cc) motorcycles in 2015.

Smaller bikes are a key step towards improving sales in regions such as India and Indonesia, which boast huge numbers of ‘non-premium’ motorcycle sales.

But it’s also a way of introducing newer riders to the fold - and that includes the increasing number of women taking up two-wheels both in Singapore and abroad.

In other news, BMW also announced its 2015 line-up for Singapore which includes the new F 800 R (pictured above). With low weight and seat height, and a tractable engine that’s not too powerful, it’s been touted as a good choice for a first ‘big’ bike.
