Lady Gabriella Windsor Makes First Public Appearance Following Her Husband's Death
In February, Lady Gabriella Kingston (née Windsor)'s husband, Thomas Kingston, tragically passed away at the age of 45. In the months since, Lady Gabriella has kept a very low profile. She was spotted inside Buckingham Palace behind her great uncle, the Duke of Kent, at Trooping the Colour this past weekend—but today, she made a big return to public life.
Riding in a carriage at Royal Ascot today, Lady Gabriella sat next to Princess Anne, and smiled and waved to the crowds. For the occasion, she wore a pink floral dress, and a pale pink hat.
After she disembarked from the carriage, her cousin, Zara Tindall, enveloped her in a big hug:
Other royals in attendance on day one included Zara's husband Mike Tindall and Peter Phillips. Members of Queen Camilla's family were also present, including her sister Annabel Elliott and her daughter Laura Lopes.
Last year at Royal Ascot, Lady Gabriella and Thomas attended alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla. The foursome were seen cheering on the King and Queen's horse from the Royal Box:
Following Thomas's death, King Charles and Queen Camilla released a statement. "The King and The Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said at the time. "In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thought sand prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."
