It is the festive season, and many places are offering special promotions to entice customers. But in Tokyo, a pasta restaurant called Spaghetti Pia Pia is continuing its tradition of rejecting entry to loving couples on Christmas Eve.

Apparently, the restaurant began doing this four years ago. Every year, a notice is put up to warn potential customers of it. This year, a crossed-out drawing of a guy sweeping up his lady like a princess was displayed, to the amusement of passers-by.

According to the president of Spaghetti Pia Pia, they have received complaints about its discrimination against such couples. But, he said, as there are customers who still support and look forward to it, they decided to continue holding the event this year.

The restaurant’s president clarified that they are not biased against couples. Quite the contrary, they are happy enough if people are able to laugh looking at the notice, and if their restaurant can be used as a safe haven for singles.
