Malaysian volunteer seeks help from Ellen DeGeneres

With the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, 25-year-old Malaysian travel blogger Rayyan Haries has decided to lend a helping hand to the refugees with his Volunteer Cook Kitchen.

The bubbly volunteer is currently feeding the unfortunate Syrian refugees on the island of Lesbos in Greece, and has been doing so for the past one and a half months.

The kind-hearted Malaysian man has been feeding 2 to 4 thousand refugees a day, but is now facing a problem – winter is coming, and Rayyan now needs help from everyone to winter-proof his kitchen.

He even turned to his idol Ellen DeGeneres, hoping that she can help him with his cause because he believes that she "always has something for everyone around the world."

The young volunteer has posted a video to Ellen on his Facebook page on 23 November which has been going viral on social media, garnering over 35 thousand views and more than 500 shares.

"We don't have the money to do something big to winter-proof this space," said Rayyan emotionally in his video. "I'm not a big NGO, I'm just a guy who believes that food is hope, and I just want to keep feeding people."

We really hope that Ellen can see this video, and if you want help Rayyan with his cause too, you can do so here.
