Man arrested for kicking, punching SBS bus

He literally stopped the SBS bus in its tracks in broad daylight and refused to let it move.

Not content with that, he kicked and punched the windscreen of the bus, as if desperate to get onboard for whatever reason.

For his efforts, the rowdy and aggressive 51-year-old man was arrested by police after the incident on 555 Serangoon Road – outside Sri Perumal Temple – on Saturday.

According to local media reports, SBS Transit said the bus captain – alarmed by the man’s erratic, violent behaviour smack in the middle of the road -- refused him entry to the bus. This sparked off an even more violent rampage during which he started throwing kicks, slamming the door and window, damaging the right side mirror as well as one of the front wipers.

The incident drew the attention of several bystanders on the road, one of whom tried to calm the man down.

For many of the 45 passengers onboard the bus, the aggressive display was “sibei entertaining”, according to a witness.

While they were enjoying the “show”, the bus captain could be heard communicating with the Operations Control Centre asking for assistance.

A video of the incident garnered some buzz on social media. On SG Share's Facebook page, it was shared over 3,000 times.

Investigations are ongoing.
