Man arrested for leaving bag with grenade-shaped object unattended at Clarke Quay MRT

A 58-year-old man has been arrested for leaving a bag with an attached grenade-shaped object unattended at Clarke Quay MRT station.

In a statement on Tuesday (23 October), the police said that on 16 September 2017, they were alerted to the bag being left at the MRT station.

The police later established the identity of the man who is believed to have intentionally left the bag at the station and later arrested him on 17 September 2017 for making false threat to cause alarm.

The man will be charged on Wednesday under the United Nations (Anti-Terrorism Measures) Regulations. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 10 years, or with a fine not exceeding $500,000, or with both.
