Two separate car crashes occurred about 30 metres from each other on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) before the Jalan Kayu exit on Tuesday morning (23 October), with two injuries in one accident and a five-car pile-up in the other.

The police said that they were alerted to an accident involving three cars along TPE towards Seletar Expressway at 8.37am. A 50-year-old woman, who was the driver in one of the cars, and a 35-year-old female passenger were taken to Sengkang General Hospital with injuries. Both were conscious en route to the hospital.

A separate crash occurred at around the same time just behind the first accident. Photos of the ensuing pile-up were posted on social media, showing one car stacked on top of another.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) tweeted at 9am that the accident caused traffic congestion along TPE during the morning rush hour, with the tailback stretching to the Tampines Road exit.

SBS Transit also tweeted at 10.23am that seven of its bus services were delayed because of the accident.
