Man charged for giving dead person's particulars to Traffic Police

A man who allegedly gave a dead person’s particulars to the Traffic Police following an accident was charged in the State Courts on Thursday (30 November).

Tan Chun Keng Ivan, 31, was charged with perverting the course of justice when he allegedly submitted the particulars of a deceased person in relation to a hit-and-run incident at Clementi Avenue 6 on 6 June this year. He was the driver of the car involved in the case.

At the time of the accident, Tan possessed only a Provisional Driving License. He faces a total of six charges, including driving without displaying his learner driver plates, driving without motor insurance and failing to make a police report after being involved in a traffic accident.

Tan will be back in court on 28 December. For intentionally perverting the cause of justice, the maximum punishment is a jail term of seven years, a fine or both.
