SINGAPORE — Posing as a young female social escort, a man befriended underage girls online and cheated them into having sex with him by offering “quick money” when he was in fact “the client”.

Angelo Anwyll Goh Hao-Yi, a father of three, sought the girls on Facebook and would send them a friend request if he liked their appearance.

The 34-year-old created several social media accounts to bolster his lies.

Goh, a Singaporean sales engineer, was jailed four years and 10 months on Thursday (7 November) after he admitted to two counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 14 years old, seven counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 16, one count of commercial sex with a minor under 18, and one count of making an obscene film. Another 15 charges of a similar nature were considered for sentencing.

The eight girls involved are aged 13 to 17.

According to the prosecution, Goh adopted the name of “Vacinta Koh”, created a Facebook account and email for the fictitious female persona who was under 20 years old. He also used photos from other public Facebook accounts to make his fake account look genuine, and linked it to a fake Instagram account.

He created the Facebook account under a female name as he had been previously unsuccessful in engaging girls for sex under various male profiles, which had false names.

With the new account, “Vacinta” would send requests to girls whose appearances he liked. After they accepted his friend request, “Vacinta” would then message them and ask if they were interested in making quick money of between $100 and $200 per hour. He said the job entailed working as a part time girlfriend or a social escort. “Vacinta” claimed to be able to introduce clients to the girls.

If a girl was reluctant or underage, “Vacinta” would claim that age was not an issue and add that “she” was working as a social escort “herself” and could arrange for the girl to meet one of “her” regular clients first. “She” added that there was a stringent vetting process which only let through young, non-ugly, and rich men who underwent health checks every two months. Rude and abusive clients would be banned, “Vacinta” told the girls.

Once the girls agreed, “Vacinta” would arrange for them to meet a purported client, who was in fact Goh himself. “Vacinta” also informed the girls of the rates, which were $60 for penile-vaginal penetration, $30 for oral sex, and $100 for both acts. Additional payment would be made for anal penetration. “She” cautioned the girls to keep the job a secret and also asked them to introduce their friends for the same job.

Goh offered additional payments of $10 and $20 if the girl agreed to wear a school uniform during the encounter or agreed to be filmed respectively.

Court documents revealed a text conversation that took place between one victim and “Vacinta”. The latter assured the victim that the client was “not some weirdo young guy. n quite nice (sic)”. When the victim said that she was afraid of being filmed, “Vacinta” replied, “if scared I should be more scared than u, he got at least 10 videos with me he also nvr do anything (sic)”.

When asked for personal information about the client, “Vacinta” would refuse, claiming that “she” did not disclose either the girls’ or the client’s information as “she” had to protect their privacy. In fact, Goh had access to the girls’ personal information.

Caught with obscene films

Goh would drive his black BMW car to meet the girls.

After meeting them, Goh would bring them to his home or a multi-storey carpark, where they would have sex in his car, or hotels which did not require the girl to be registered. He also told the girls to bring their school uniforms rather than wear them to the meeting, to avoid detection.

Goh created the fake account in May 2016 and only stopped the scheme in April last year. The fake Facebook account had 2,188 friends at the time of investigations.

On one occasion, Goh met a 15-year-old girl and brought her to Hotel Boss for sex. He placed his handphone on a window ledge to film the girl and asked her to state her name and purpose in coming to the hotel with him. The two had unprotected sex and Goh paid the girl $60.

On other occasions, Goh brought the underage girls back to his house and filmed them having unprotected sex in their school uniforms.

One of the victims, a 14-year-old girl, messaged “Vacinta” frequently and began treating “her” as a friend. She called “Vacinta” “Jie Jie”, which means elder sister in Mandarin, and told “her” about personal problems, such as financial difficulties and that her boyfriend had been sent to detention barracks. The girl also offered to help “Vacinta” purchase goods during her travels.

This girl ended up meeting Goh three times for sexual encounters.

Goh was arrested on 2 April last year. His phones and laptop contained 24 videos without a valid license and 23 obscene films.

His lawyer Daniel Atticus Xu sought 48 months for his client, while the prosecution argued for 60 months.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Pei Wei said that Goh created a fictitious female profile with a similar age profile to the victims and pretended to be involved in social escort activities to “bridge the trust gap”.

After Goh was sentenced, Xu asked for the start of the sentence to be deferred a week.

With Goh tearing in the dock, the lawyer said, “He has three very young kids and he sent the kids to school this morning. Give him some time to bond with the young children.”
