Man who drove against traffic flow along AYE to be charged

A 30-year-old man who allegedly drove against the flow of traffic along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) last week will be charged in court Thursday (12 January).

The Singapore Police Force said in a media release Wednesday that the man was driving towards Tuas in a red sports car on 5 January when he allegedly committed the offence at about 1.26 am.

He will be charged with one count of dangerous driving. Yahoo Singapore understands that he is also being investigated for drink driving. The man was arrested on 6 January in the vicinity of Jubilee Road.

If convicted under the Road Traffic Act, the man faces a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months or both. A repeat offender may be fined up to $5,000 or a jail term of up to two years or both.
