Marvel Studios Heading Back To Hall H At San Diego Comic-Con
EXCLUSIVE: Following a sleepy San Diego Comic-Con last summer due to the actors strike, this year’s confab is about to explode with the return of Marvel Studios to Hall H, per sources.
Traditionally, the penultimate day of SDCC is dedicated to Marvel Studios’ presentation in the late afternoon. Comic-Con runs from July 25-28.

Note that the studio was present at the fanboy confab last year with a trade floor booth, a comic-book panel and autographs from distinguished writers and artists.

This year’s presence for Marvel falls on the opening weekend of its first R-rated Disney movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, which is expected to be huge, with some tracking firms spotting a possible $200M start. No word yet on what Marvel will dazzle us with, however, the studio left big footprints at SDCC 2019 when it announced their Disney+ and big-screen crossovers, and 2022 when they teased their Phase 5 and Phase 6 plans.

Marvel Studios’ plans for San Diego Comic-Con go down to the wire, with never-before-seen clips polished up with music and VFX. For starters, given the first weekend of Deadpool & Wolverine, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were to put in a special appearance. One year pre-Covid, Marvel introduced the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy inside Hall H, a stunt that had the crowds screaming like Beatles fans. That said, perhaps The Fantastic Four cast of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach show up onstage. That movie is set to start filming after Comic-Con in July for release on July 25, 2025.

Exhibitors at CinemaCon already got a first look at Anthony Mackie in Captain America: Brave New World (dated for February 14), so we can expect footage from that. Thunderbolts, starring the anti-heroes of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barns (Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour), is in production for a May 2 summer start. It’s entirely possible we see footage or maybe cast from that movie as well as other titles from MCU’s upcoming film & TV slate. Marvel series Wonder Man and Iron Heart with Wakanda Forever‘s Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) have completed shooting.
Among those projects without footage are the next Avengers, of which Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Shawn Levy is the top choice for the directing gig, per Deadline. That Michael Waldron-penned movie is looking at a top-of-year production start. And then there’s Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, which is awaiting a new director.
