The Masked Singer US spoilers follow.

Two more stars have been unveiled on The Masked Singer US, including a Golden Globe-winning actor and a sports star.

During last night's episode of the talent competition, three contestants that had previously been spared by the Ding Dong Keep It On bell – Gargoyle, Mantis, and Medusa – battled it out for a spot in the quarter-finals.

Following a performance of 'You Got Me Going' by The Kinks, Mantis was revealed to be Prodigal Son star Lou Diamond Phillips.

None of the judges uncovered his identity, with Robin Thicke guessing Thomas Lennon, Nicole Scherzinger reckoning it was Steve Buscemi, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg opting for Kevin Bacon, and Ken Jeong landing on Brendan Fraser.

Phillips originally received the Ding Dong Keep It On bell during the WB Movie Night by Thicke after Phillips performed Bob Seger's 'Old Time Rock & Roll', which happened to be Thicke's father's favourite song, followed by '(I've Got a) Golden Ticket' from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, which Thicke's 12-year-old son had recently performed in a play.

Following his elimination, Phillips revealed a sentimental reason of his own that he took part in the show.

"I've watched the show over a number of seasons now and it's just so much fun, and it's a real crowd pleaser," he said. "My youngest daughter Indigo, who's 15, it's her favorite show. She gets on a FaceTime with a friend of hers and they watch together.

"So, when the opportunity came up, I said: 'Indigo, what do you think?' She thought about it because, you know, there's 'Dad world' — the movies and TV things that I do — and then there's 'Indigo world' — stuff that she loves. And there was a moment where it's like: 'Please don't ruin my show.'

"She thought about it and finally gave me permission. And then she got very excited about it, especially when she saw the costume. It turned into a nice little family adventure."

With Gargoyle and Medusa left to go head to head in the Battle Royale, it was Gargoyle that ended up losing with Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen being unmasked.

Gargoyle's identity also wasn't guessed by the panel, with Thicke thinking it was Joey Bosa, Scherzinger saying it was Marshawn Lynch, McCarthy Wahlberg picking Michael B. Jordan, and Jeong going with Anthony Mackie.

The sports star revealed his time singing in a school choir helped him land a spot on the show, with Allen saying: "I definitely always had a passion for it. I love singing."

Gargoyle became the second contestant to be saved by the bell during DC Superheroes Night following a rendition of Charlie Puth's 'One Call Away'.

This means Medusa got to keep their mask on and nab a spot in the quarter-finals as the competition continues.

The Masked Singer US season 9 airs on Fox, while The Masked Singer UK airs on ITV1.
