She's still got it.

The red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala was filled with the usual suspects (Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Zendaya, Kendall Jenner), but there were also a few new faces in the crowd—or, shall we say, return faces.

For fashion's biggest night, Meg Ryan made a rare re-appearance on the museum's famed steps, marking her first Met Gala in more than 20 years. Dressed by Michael Kors, the actress wore a black sequined gown with a sheer fitted bodice, a high square neckline, and sparkly floral embellishments throughout the dress's design. She accessorized with dangly turquoise earrings and black aviator sunglasses that matched Kors's signature pair.

As for glam, Ryan styled in her blonde bob in her trademark '90s rom-com curls and rounded out her beauty look with a pink lip and a generous swirl of blush on both cheeks.

The last time Ryan attended the Met Gala was in 2001, when the theme was "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years." That year, her interpretation included a pleated knee-length with a black skirt and a cream-colored bodice, a pair of kitten heels, and simple diamond stud earrings. Her blonde locks were chopped into a layered bob with loads of texture, while glossy pink lips and barely-there eye makeup provided the finishing touches to her girl-next-door glam.

Last year, Ryan made her triumphant return to rom-coms with the film What Happens Later, and while speaking to Glamour in November 2023, she called out Hollywood for not casting enough women over 50 in lead roles, particularly in the romantic comedy genre.

“Our culture is so obsessed with youth,” she said. “As an old person now, I love my age. I love where I’m at. Aging is not that terrifying. We’re all doing it. I wish someone had told me earlier, ‘Just relax. It is what it is. Don’t pay attention to the obstacles.’”
