Michelin Guides 2017: Two three-star restaurants for Belgium

The 2017 Michelin Guide for Belgium and Luxembourg has listed 143 Michelin-starred restaurants across the two countries.

Hof van Cleve in Kruishoutem (chef Peter Goossens) and Hertog Jan in Zedelgem (chef Gert De Mangeleer) have ensured that Belgium will have not one but two three-star restaurants for 2017, after the recent closure of De Karmeliet restaurant in Bruges.

Luxembourg's Mosconi received two stars, with the Guides' international director, Michael Ellis, describing Ilario Mosconi's dishes as offering a "real explosion of Italian flavors."

Up and coming chefs tipped for even greater success include those at one-star establishments Castor in Beveren-Leie (Maarten Bouckaert,) Colette in Westerlo (Thijs Vervloet) and Vol-Ver in Marke (Sébastien Ververken.)

Established restaurants to receive a first star include Kelderman in Aalst (Bart Tastenhoye,) 't Korennar in Nieuwkerken-Waas (Edwin Van Goethe,) Bozar Brasserie in Brussels (Karen Torosyan,) Quadras in Saint-Vith (Ricarda Grommes,) Villa Emily in Ixelles, and Wine in the City in Jette.

An abridged list of winners was announced ahead of The Michelin Guide Belgium and Luxembourg 2017 being published on November 24.
