Michelle Dee not trying to be the next Melanie Marquez

5 Nov– Although she is known as much for being Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez's daughter as she is as the new Miss World-PH, Michelle Dee recently stated that she would like to shine as her own person in the pageant arena.

As reported on Push, the actress, who will be representing the Philippines at the upcoming Miss World 2019 pageant, stated that she is not trying to be the next Melanie Marquez or even the next Teresita "Wyn" Marquez - her actress cousin who won Reina Hispanoamericana back in 2017.

"It's really just about being yourself, trying to shine as your own woman, trying to embrace everything about yourself. I'm not trying to be like my cousin, I'm not trying to be the next Melanie Marquez. I'm trying to be Michelle Dee," she said.

However, Dee stressed that she does admire her mother and her previous success in the pageant world, and that she still takes the comparison positively.

"Thanks to my mum, I have the height and I have her guidance as well. I believe in their support system so much, my training camp as well, which is Aces & Queens. I feel, like, we have a really good chance," she added.

Dee, who has been in the top 10 consistently in the international polls when it comes to her possibility of winning the crown, expressed hope that she will be able to continue with the momentum when the time comes for her to compete in the upcoming pageant on 14 December.
