Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz to Reunite for ‘Shrek 5’

Eddie Murphy first teased Shrek 5 in an interview while promoting his latest project, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, last month.

The actor revealed that he had started working on the project around five months prior but didn’t reveal any additional details. He did however note that Donkey would be receiving his own movie down the line.

DreamWorks Animation has now not only officially confirmed that Shrek 5 will release on July 1, 2026, but has also revealed that Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz are reprising their roles. Murphy voiced Donkey, Myers was the voice behind Shrek and Diaz voiced Princess Fiona.

For Shrek fans, the fifth installment in the franchise is long overdue. Puss and Boots-centered films were released in 2011 and 2022 but the last official Shrek flick, Shrek Forever After, premiered in 2010.
